ORIS Forums

ORIS Omni-Channel Forum will prove a hit in the fight against GLIT

Some of the biggest names in online retail have joined forces with the major players in the courier and logistics community in a collaborative approach to fighting fraud and the increasing problem of goods lost in transit (GLIT).

The Omni-Channel Loss Prevention Forum is the latest addition to ORIS Forums, the not-for-profit organisation that facilitates collaboration and the sharing of best practice in the fight against multi-billon pound losses in the retail sector.

The Omni-Channel Forum is the combined force of what was previously the Online and Mail Order Retail Loss Prevention Forum and the Logistics and Supply Chain Forum and includes members such as Next, John Lewis, Shop Direct, Wilko, Selfridges, River Island, Matalan, Office Depot, ebay, JD Sports, New Look, Asda, Yodel, Hermes, UK Mail and ByBox.

Although the two forums have been combined into one, the forum has two Chairs and one Vice Chair.  Alison Parkinson – Loss Prevention Manager for the Next Directory Chair's the Online and Mail Order aspect for retail, and Marie Griffiths – Profit Protection Operations Manager at John Lewis Chair's the Logistics and Supply Chain element.  Claire Tuck, Payment and Online Fraud Manager at John Lewis is Vice Chair of the overall forum.

Alison Parkinson said this week: “The two individual forums often met for collaborative discussions and this worked well because there are so many synergies in terms of risks facing both retailers and logistics providers.

“Now, by coming together as one, we have one voice and access to some of the best minds in the business which allows us to work together through some of the problems and take our issues and concerns to the bodies that can influence positive change.

The Metropolitan Police are also members of what is one of the fastest growing ORIS Forums.  The 10 ORIS Forums now collectively represent more than 100 members.

Marie Griffiths added: “Operationally and tactically I have never been part of a more positive group of can do people who want to challenge some of the external and internal behaviours impacting our businesses.  It is a very positive group of like-minded people who also have the collective power of their businesses behind theme to affect change.”

Louise Henham, Managing Director of ORIS Forums added:  “The core principle of ORIS Forums is to facilitate collaboration within retail to reduce losses and risk.  Logistics providers play a critical role in the final mile of the supply chain and it was therefore a natural progression to bring these two forums together to work as one joint force to drive down losses.”

ORIS Forums serves the following sectors:  Fashion, Café, Dining & Hospitality, DIY & Building Trade, Health, Beauty & Pharmacy, Speciality, Health & Safety, Brand Protection, Supermarket & Grocery, Irish and Omni-Channel.

ORIS Forums membership is open to retailers and logistics providers.  For more information, contact louise.henham@orisforums.co.uk or visit www.orisforums.co.uk
