NBCC hosts retail anti-violence conference

Growing concern over the increasing use of aggression and violence against retail staff has prompted Police to host a conference to discuss solutions to the issue.

The National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) will be hosting a national conference of business, policing colleagues and key stakeholders in London on Monday March 12th.

The focus of the event is to bring together retailers, business crime reduction partnerships, town centre managers and local authorities with their local forces, to work more collaboratively in reducing violent crime and to discuss common challenges that affect the business community.

Since the introduction of the NBCC, the number of national partnerships has grown, as has the challenge of creating safe, vibrant, day and night-time local economies, with less resources.

The conference, taking place at the De Vere Connaught Rooms, 61-65 Great Queen Street, London provides an opportunity to showcase effective practice and learn from the experience of experts and peers with practical advice on how to tackle the ever-changing nature of violent crime in and around business.

The NBCC wants to hear from the business community how it can, together with front line companies, shape the future and the sharing of resources.

This event is also supported by Deputy Commissioner Sir Craig Mackey and the Home Office.

There will be input on training, technical and physical solutions, support from the Metropolitan Police Flying Squad and Crime Prevention initiatives.

There will be a marketplace showcasing tactical interventions and a networking opportunity over a buffet lunch.

The NBCC has also arranged an input about GDPR, a topical issue that will have to be considered when implementing many solutions.
