LP Professionals Get The Charity Habit In Memory Of Colleagues
One of the UK’s highest peaks will look like a scene from The Sound of Music next Bank Holiday weekend as 80 retail workers dressed as nuns ascend Snowdon to raise money for Comic Relief - all in memory of two loss prevention colleagues who have sadly passed away.
The staff from the Theo Paphitis Retail Group who hope to raise £5,000, will all ignore blisters with smiles on their faces as they remember fun-loving colleagues Tracy Purkiss and Ray Winter, who was Head of Risk for TPRG, who both died suddenly.
TPRG staff are no strangers to donning the ‘habit’ to raise money for charity as they have carried out a number of stunts over the years dating back to Valentine’s Day 2009 when Ray convinced two other colleagues Rob Mills and Mike Brown to don the Wimple in a stunt called ‘Nuns on the Pull’.
The three ‘sisters’ pulled Theo Paphitis’s £350,000, three-ton Maybach car a distance of one mile, expertly steered by Sister Tracy Purkiss, who was TPRG’s head of HR, at the wheel.
“We are still heartbroken that we have since lost both Tracy and Ray and we will be completing this walk in memory of both of our dear colleagues,” said Snowdon event organiser Rob Mills.
“As some of our retail colleagues will know, we went on to other events including 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles', 'Nuns with Big Guns' and some went one further with 'Nuns Down Under for Sport Relief'.”
These stunts involved nuns pulling a train, an aeroplane and, bizarrely, cycling under water to raise a staggering £35,000 for Comic and Sport Relief.
On 5th May 2019 almost 80 TPRG colleagues will be walking up Snowdon dressed as Nuns to raise as much money as possible for Comic Relief.
“We want to raise as much money as we can and a few smiles along the way as the nuns get back together in memory of both Tracy and Ray,” added Rob, Risk Manager for TPRG.
